2021 Speakers
"Harnessing the growth of the UK staycation”

Staycations – near, on and under water

Richard Coutts, Founder and Team Principal, Baca Architects.

We are all instinctively drawn to water, whether it’s trying out invigorating water sports or simply enjoying rejuvenating lakeside views.  Baca Architects are creating some of the most forward-thinking waterside developments aiming to attract staycationers of every generation. Transforming  disused gravel quarries and other sites in need of regeneration, Baca believes in delivering ecological destinations where elegant architecture sits serenely within the aquatic landscape.  Richard Coutts, one of the UK’s foremost specialists in designing with water, will share his expertise – from creating underwater restaurants to floating lodges, hotels and tree houses – restoring the natural habitat and providing exceptional experiences for today’s holiday makers.

Surviving & Thriving In The Pandemic

Alfie Best, Chairman, Wyldecrest Parks

He will also discuss his development plans to continue the growth of the UK’s No.1 Mobile Home Park Provider.

Building sustainable accommodation that inspires

Rory Harmer, Partner, Tate Harmer LLP

Rory Harmer will talk in detail about the ever growing need to take care of our planet’s health & our personal wellbeing. Hotels are in tune with this idea and designing a hotel has become more about the experience for the user and the additional sustainable eco-benefits that the hotel can provide during your stay.

Rory will talk in detail on the need to design with nature and why this is incredibly important in our current climate emergency. Our existence depends on our current habits changing, and by using nature we can enliven the everyday and create a new eco-tourism that helps combat climate change.

Rory will draw on examples of work by Tate Harmer including: The Eden hotel, a 110 bed hotel with a new café, education area and surrounding landscape that will be an inclusive, sustainable, low-energy building. And Upland Park, an eco-lodge development in the South Downs National Park.
